Sex, in a way its what makes the world go round and keeps us going. Finding someone special to have these exciting sexual adventures is always a tick on the life to do list. However, sometimes sexual experiences do not go the way that we don’t want to. Our blog intends to investigate male sexual health issues and provide advice on how to look after yourself.
According to the NHS, 1 in 10 men have an issue related to sex. So don’t worry, you’re not on your own.
Erectile Dysfunction
For those that don’t know much about erectile dysfunction, this is when a male struggles to get or keep an erection. This means the male struggles to join in with intercourse and other sexual activity. At some point within their lives, men will experience this issue. It can lead to physical and psychological causes. The problem is common within men over the age of 40.
Why does Erectile Dysfunction happen?
This can usually be brought on due to several things, for example:
- Stress
- Tiredness
- Drinking too much alcohol
- Anxiety
But don’t worry too much as it is a common thing.
If it does seem to happen over and over again, make an appointment to see your GP to discuss the issue and to help this be resolved.
Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation is when a male penis ejaculates (also known as comes or jizz) sooner than they want to during sex. This is only a problem if it affects yourself or your partner. If this is an occasional episode, then do not be concerned by this.
This issue can cause males to have stress, depression, relationship issues and anxiety around sexual performance, this is particular in the start of a relationship.
However, if this happens all the time and you have anxiety about this, the best thing to do (yep you guessed it) is to go see your GP.
How can you stop Premature Ejaculation?
Sometimes, males have said that the following has helped:
- Taking breaks during sexual intercourse
- Masturbate 1-2 hours before a sexual encounter
- Thick condoms can decrease the sensation
- Have sex with your partner on top
Loss of Sex Drive
Also know as libido is when a person has reduced sexual thoughts or interest in sexual activities.
Again, just like the other two issues discussed, the issue is a common thing. This issue can come on again due to stress, anxiety, relationship issues, medication affects.
Everyone is different, all of us have a different libido. There is no such thing as a correct high or low libido. If it is starting to affect other parts of your life such as your relationship then do not be afraid to speak up. Talk to a sexual advisor or your GP.
There is nothing embarrassing about a loss of sex drive. People all ages across the world and all gender types have experienced this issue at some point within their lives or that they will experience it. Pick up the phone and get chatting and start to make your sex life fun again.
